My name is Ehren Haderlie and I am currently studying at Brigham Young University Idaho to receive a Bachelor’s in Biology Education with a minor in Chemistry and Spanish Education. I am looking forward to an opportunity to student teach and learn from the experience. My primary goal is to help students to gain a love for learning and I hope that through student teaching I will be able to better understand the needs of the students. I was born in Provo, Utah on October 15, 1980 while my dad was still attending college to earn his Master’s in Biochemistry. I have one older sister who currently lives in Seattle, Washington with her husband and four sons. Her husband does general contracting. My older brother is currently in Georgia in basic training where he will be a computer technician for the army. One of my younger brothers is currently serving a mission for the LDS Church in Germany. My youngest brother is a junior at Madison High School. When my dad graduated, we moved to Ohio where we lived for fourteen years. In 1997 we decided to move closer to family and so my dad got a job working in the BYU-Idaho library. Since then, I graduated from Madison High School in 1999 and then served a Spanish speaking mission for the LDS Church in Peru from 2000 to 2002. In July of the same year that I returned I married my high school sweetheart, Shannon Kidd. Soon after that my wife graduated from ISU with a Bachelor’s in Dietetics. She decided to use her degree by being a stay home mom as we had our first child, Alyssa Marie, in June of 2003. We also just recently had our second, Kaylie Colleen, on December 22, 2004. Ever since high school I have wanted to be a teacher because I saw how much other people struggled with gaining a desire to learn. I don’t profess to know all of the answers, that is why I am still in college, but I do have a desire to help. I have had many opportunities to tutor others and learn from them that each person has individual needs when concerning education. I had the opportunity to be an instructional aide in the Sugar Salem School District where I helped a boy with autism. That experience taught me so much from the fact that even though he barely had the capability to learn academically, he loved to be at school and to try something new. My hobbies include a wide variety of things. Obviously, I love the sciences. I love to learn about new things that are being discovered, new ideas that are being thought up and the application of those ideas in modern medicine, technology, etc. I love to read all kinds of books. I have always had a big interest in computers and related technology. I enjoy photography and have somewhat of my own side business, though it needs a lot more work. I enjoy the outdoors and the beauty of the world around. I learned from my experiences in Peru, and other jobs that I have had in the last couple of years, to love the Hispanic people of the world. These experiences have opened my eyes to the beauty of difference that we all exhibit in our varying cultures. I look forward to being a teacher for a long time and hope that the student teaching experience will help me to be more prepared to aid students in their journey of life.
